Green Bay Police Chief Jim Arts

Under administrative direction of the City of Green Bay Common Council and the Mayor, the Office of the Chief of Police is responsible for the overall planning and direction of police services for the City of Green Bay.

The Chief administers the day-to-day operations of the department through the commanders of the Operations and Investigations Divisions and the business manager of the Support Services Division.

Under the Chief's direction, the Training, Planning, and Research Section develops policies and procedures for the department and coordinates ongoing training efforts for GBPD staff.

The Chief also ensures public confidence in the department through the efficient and fair operation of the Internal Affairs Section, dedicated to protecting the rights of citizens, while addressing the concerns of the community and department members.

Green Bay proudly boasts a low crime rate, especially compared to other cities our size. You can read about Green Bay's Crime Statistics on our Statistics Index Page.
