Green Bay Police Department Investigative Division

Investigative Division Mission Statement

The Investigative Division is dedicated to providing a safe community for the citizens of Green Bay by promptly, aggressively, diligently and thoroughly, investigating crimes using traditional investigative techniques and the most current technological resources available. The Division will reach this goal with constant awareness of the diverse needs of individuals, and by respecting the constitutional rights of all people. Success is accomplished more efficiently through teamwork, thus the Division will strive for strong working relationships with others within the department, as well as local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, to accomplish the common goal of finding the truth.

Investigative Division Values Statement

  • The investigation of crimes is the Division’s primary responsibility, thus experience and knowledge will be used to aggressively pursue those who commit crimes against the community. In doing so, the Division will accomplish its mission of finding the truth and bringing those who commit crimes to justice.
  • The Division will be responsive to victims and actively pursue all leads in all investigations to reach the goal of finding the truth.
  • The Division will be proactive and have productive partnerships with other agencies involved in the criminal justice system including other social service agencies, schools, community partners, the District Attorney’s office and other police agencies.
  • The Division will portray a positive and professional image to the community and maintain the highest ethical and moral standards.
  • The Division will be proactive in assisting and training Operations Division supervisors and officers to create a department-wide learning environment to provide the best service possible to the community.
  • The Division will recognize its weaknesses and strive to overcome them.

The role of the Investigative Division is varied. The main function is to gather evidence, identify and apprehend suspects, prepare cases for prosecution, and recover personal property. The role of the division goes beyond that. It involves education and prevention through the Police School Liaison program, Crime Prevention Unit and Community Liaison.

There are a number of programs within the investigative Division, including Police School Liaison Officers, Crime Prevention, Street Gang Officer, Evidence Technicians, Hispanic and Asian Community Liaisons, and the Identification & Forensic Services Unit (IFSU).
