In 2000, the IFSU processed 3,433 arrested persons and another 507 for reasons such as adoption, employment, military, and licensing purposes.
The department recently purchased new surveillance equipment for use in high-profile crimes. New computer forensic equipment was also purchased, which has helped IFSU process evidence pertaining to computer crimes. Twelve computers were analyzed in 2000. More time was allocated for training, as equipment has become more technical.

Approximately 1,500 pieces of evidence from 376 cases were processed during 2000. This resulted in 45 matches to known suspects. The Digital Lab produced 1,445 sets of image files during the year, bringing the total to 4,694 set of images in the database.
