Green Bay Police Department Dive Team
    

The Green Bay Police dive team was established in 2005 at the request of the Federal Government to address Homeland security issues in the Port of Green Bay. The Green Bay Dive Team is a regional dive team in conjunction with The Brown County Sheriffs Dept, Sturgeon Bay Police Dept and Door County Sheriffs Dept. The dive team is capable of shore based and boat based operations.

Green Bay team members were trained in Basic SCUBA, Advanced SCUBA, Underwater Explosive Detection, Search and Rescue, Underwater Evidence Recovery and Ice Diving.

The Green Bay Dive Team has trained in the Fox River, Green Bay, Menominee River, Lake Michigan, Door County and Marinette County.

The regional dive team assisted the Coast Guard in 2006 by searching and clearing the docks in the Fox River prior to the Tall Ships Festival. The Green Bay Dive Team also assisted the Marinette Dive Team in 2006 by searching the docks at Bay Shipbuilding prior to the launch of the latest naval vessel.

Most of the equipment that the regional dive team currently has was purchased through homeland security grants.

The Green Bay Dive Team currently consists of two OICs: Lt. Jim Runge and Lt. John Laux and seven team members: Off. Dave Van Erem, Off. Craig Carlson, Off. Joe Merrill, Off Kevin Kempf, Off Matt Lynch, Off. Matt Cain and Off. Jeff Stone.
