Street and Bus Safety

  • BE ALERT! Pay attention to who is in the vicinity and your surroundings.

  • Travel with a friend if possible and use well-traveled streets.

  • Avoid short-cuts through yards and poorly lit alleys.

  • Only carry the cash you need and leave other valuable goods at home.

  • Avoid carrying large purses whenever possible.

  • Don't walk near the edge of the sidewalk near bushes, driveways, or alleyways.

  • If someone tries to grab your purse or belongings, RELEASE THEM. Don't risk being hurt.

  • Beware of strangers who bump you or get too close. Pickpockets often work in groups.

  • Vary your schedule. Don't be predictable.

  • Use the bus schedule to minimize the time you stand around waiting for the bus.

  • If someone is bothering you on a Green Bay City bus, tell the driver.

  • If few people are on the bus, sit near the driver.

  • When riding the bus, keep your belongings in your lap or close at hand.

  • If you feel uneasy about getting off at your usual stop, stay on the bus until the next stop.
