Construyendo Puentes is a Hispanic Citizen Academy that provides information about Green Bay Police services and procedures to the Spanish-speaking members of our community. The Green Bay Police Department’s Building Bridges with Law Enforcement is designed to give participants a better understanding of the functions, operations, and objectives of the Green Bay Police Department.

In doing so, we hope to strengthen ties with members of the Hispanic community, and hope participants in turn will come to a better understanding and trust police officers when enforcing municipal and state laws. The training is designed to be interactive and is a combination of lecture and guided discussions. During the sessions, participants are encouraged to ask questions, enter into discussions, and provide feedback to the department.

The academy consists of 4 three hour sessions that meet on Thursdays from 8:00- 11:00am. The academy starts at the beginning of September and ends the first week of October. Topics include; Human trafficking, Domestic Violence, Juvenile law, Traffic law, mental health, gun violence, use of force, Drugs, Use of Force, and more. All instructors are sworn personnel and civilian employees who are very knowledgeable in the topic discussed.
