During the week of January 11, 2021 city forestry crews will begin a large scale ash tree removal project in Perkins Park. All remaining ash trees will be removed in the park due to EAB infestation and the potential safety risk the trees may pose to park patrons.
Wood from the trees will be utilized to its highest use to provide a variety of wood products to market. Woody debris will be chipped and used as mulch or composted at the west side yard waste facility. Due to the nature of the wood being infested with EAB this wood will not be made available to the public for firewood.
Replanting of trees in the park will take place and coincide with any future plans of park use.
Any questions about this project or EAB in Green Bay can be directed to Brian Pelot Assistant Forester, City of Green Bay: (920) 448-3378 or email@example.com.
