Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program

The Energy Services Bureau oversees the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP). This includes the federally-funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and other related programs. WHEAP and its related services help over 100,000 Wisconsin households annually. In addition to regular heating assistance, specialized services include:

  • Counseling for energy conservation and energy budgets
  • Emergency fuel assistance
  • Emergency furnace repair and replacement
  • Proactive co-payment plans
  • Targeted outreach services

Services are provided locally through Brown County Social Services, tribal governments, and private non-profit or other governmental agencies.
